An open kitchen and dining area where a white quartz peninsula faced in blue and white patterned cement tile meets a round marble table and dark bentwood chairs.

A wall taken out,

a sheet of glass

put back

A four-room flat where the one structural move is a sheet of glass. The small room beside the main bedroom has lost its solid wall and gained a black-framed sliding screen, so the study joins the bedroom when it is open and closes back into its own room when it is shut. Both keep their own window, which is what makes it work rather than merely look open.

The kitchen peninsula is the only surface allowed to be loud, and it faces the side people sit at.

The galley kitchen looking through to the living room, a long white worktop with open timber cubbies below it and a copper dome pendant over the breakfast counter.

A bathroom lined in pale stone-effect tile with a walnut wall-hung vanity, a white rectangular vessel basin and a frameless glass screen dividing off the shower.
03

Walnut-grain fronts and a timber dish-rack cabinet take the kitchen run; white quartz and metro tile take the rest of it. Open cubbies and a copper pendant mark the breakfast counter at the far end.

The glass wall is

the whole plan

The bathroom is lined in pale stone-effect tile with a walnut wall-hung vanity and a frameless screen. Next door the bedroom's full-height timber headboard runs into the black-framed glazing that opens onto the study.

Alabaster wall lights are recessed into the bedroom panelling and grey curtains draw back from a full-width window. Through the screen the study keeps a window of its own, a bamboo desk under a copper wire pendant.
